  1. Adding the 'notes' feature from pinboard.in

I am thinking of adding notes to the next version of pinner. The basic functionality would involve listing, searching, and adding new notes. I was also considering adding Markdown support for notes, allowing you to view and add basic formatting like titles, bold, etc.. Along with that would be support for exporting notes as plain text, html, or PDF.

Please vote for this idea if you would like to see this implemented in a future version, or comment below if you have suggestions!

    • Post bookmark to another Pinboard account

I use Pinboard as my central hub for 1) bookmarking and 2) reading. To optimize my workflow, I've got two Pinboard accounts: one that mainly acts as my "to read" account (my Pinboard-inbox), and one to store important bookmarks (my Pinboard-vault).

It would be great to be able to use the comfort of Pinner to read through my Pinboard-inbox and share / post an article worth storing to my vault.

In other words: it would be great if Pinner would support sharing a bookmark / article to another Pinboard-account.

Multiple accounts are not planned at this time, though may be added in the future. I will keep you updated.

What you describe could also be accomplished using IFTTT (https://ifttt.com), a free service. I understand that you may not wish to use an external service for this, but I thought I would let you know.

What you could do is have a specific tag such as “add-to-vault” in your “to read” account. You could then use the Pinboard RSS feed for this tag – when IFTTT detects a new item in this RSS feed, it can be used to add it to your “vault” account. You might not be able to preserve tags this way, though.

      • Fullscreen mode when in reader view

I get that the entire app cant be in fullscreen mode simplyfor utility purposes. However when in reader mode, the app should be able to switch to full screen with a single tap in the middle of the screen. Pretty much like how Pocket/Instapaper does it.

Also a landscape reader mode would be great.

Hi! Are you using the app on iPad or iPhone? You can switch to full screen by scrolling on iPhone, or tapping the button to the bottom right on iPad. Are there some improvements to this view you would like to see? Thank you for taking the time to clarify this for me!

        • Do not make offline reading require a connection

This seemed nonsensical to suggest, but I had to verify that it actually doesn't happen.

          To recreate:

          * enable background updates (though this should be irrelevant) and offline reading
          * refresh your articles automatically, manually, etc.)
          * put device into airplane mode or, say, go into a tunnel on metro
          * attempt to open an article; fails (which makes sense, that's not the feature
          * hit the "reading mode" icon (sunglasses)
          * see a blank page or error about not being able to load the content

I would ask that, even just in the easing view, the app provide an…

            Hi all,

Sorry that you’re having problems with Pinner.

The scenario that you describe is exactly how Pinner should work, and in my tests it seems to work fine. Let me just clarify a few points with you:

            • One of the settings "prefetch X bookmarks " must be enabled for the offline caching to work – with them off, only the content of bookmaker syou open is cached.
            • Offline caching only works with the ‘reader’ mode’

Even taking these into account, are you still experiencing issues? If so, I will investigate further.

            Thanks for your time.

          • Add more room for link titles in the list view

The only thing I could think of to accomplish that is to make link titles multiline. Could be scrolling title as well, though.
Also more space for the url in the save link view is needed - now it contains only 20 or so characters, usually urls are longer than that and it's hard to do a quick visual check if the right address was pasted.

            • Hide bookmarks in landscape mode

I like to view sites in landscape mode and being able to hide the bookmarks bar would be nice.

Hi John. Are you using the app on iPad? So you’d like to be able to hide the list in landscape mode? I’ll start investigating how difficult this will be to implement – I’ll try to get it in for the release after next. Thanks!

              • allow option of viewing unread list w oldest at the top

ppl might not want it or want it all the time, but I have such a long list that sometimes my goal is just to get the oldest ones out of the way.

                  • Delete button in browser edit view

I like how you can go through your latest bookmarks from the browser just with the up and down arrows. However, you can only edit but not delete them from this view. At the moment, you have to go back to the list view to do so. Is it possible to add a delete button to the edit view?
